Ruby Enjoying her New Surroundings

We spent most of January and February around home being very quiet and letting Ruby explore her new surroundings. Dick had time off work so she had both of us at her beck and call. Touching grass for the first time was a very exciting thing. Ruby was very quiet at first and very wary of new things or people. It didn't take long for Ruby to form an attachment with us which was great. So much emphasis throughout the adoption process is placed on Attachment and Bonding and we were so worried about it so were very excited when we started seeing signs of her attachment to us. We were visited by our social worker 2 weeks after our return home. She was very pleased with our progress with Ruby and wrote a glowing report to the Department. Ruby attended an appointment with her Paediatrician who tested her for everything under the sun. The poor little thing had to have lots of blood tests which I think was more traumatic for Mum and Dad. Ruby was also tested for Giardia which the tests came back positive for. It took two courses of antibiotics to finally clear it up. About 2 days after the second course we had a totally different little girl who would try new foods and actually enjoy them. Until this time we were really worried about the little amount of food she was eating.
