The Chinese Earthquake Appeal in Ballarat

Today in Ballarat the Ballarat Chinese Association held an earthquake appeal. The Ballarat and Bendigo lion dancers where there to entertain us. When we arrived Ruby remembered them from Bendigo and would not let go of me for dear life, I have never been held that tight she was terrified. They weren't as threatening as the ones in Bendigo and we made sure we sat far enough away from them this time. I think what scares her most is the noise that goes with it, the drums etc are so loud. By the end of the day Ruby warmed to them blowing them kisses and laughing. Ruby enjoyed herself doing some chinese drawing and making a chinese lantern with one of the lady's. We enjoyed eating chinese food cooked especially by our local chinese shop who knows us well. Later in the day they had a choir come in and sing some fair dinkum aussie songs. Ruby enjoyed them and I think they enjoyed her as well. Ruby was up the front conducting the choir which had everyone laughing. I think the choir were watching her more than they were watching their real conductor. The people were really lovely and we are going to become members of the Ballarat Chinese
Association which will be great for Ruby.
